Stag Do Javea — Cliffs, Clear Water and a Boat of Your Own

No, and that is the pitch. The nightlife machine is in Benidorm and the big party boats run from Alicante and Benidorm; Javea is a small port town under a mountain, quieter than Denia, with cliffs, coves and very good restaurants. Stags that book here have usually done the club circuit before and want the other version: a private boat, proper swimming, a coastline that earns its photographs, and a long, loud dinner ashore. If your group wants podiums and foam, we will cheerfully tell you to book down the coast — and if it wants both, do the boat here and the big night in Benidorm.

No — and this is worth spelling out, because a supposed limit gets repeated all over the internet. The regional decree that has governed the Cap de Sant Antoni marine reserve since 2015 sets no speed limit at all. What it does do is ban anchoring outright, ban every form of recreational fishing, ban jet-skis and motorised water sports, and require authorisation for scuba diving. The speed rules that genuinely bind us are Spain's state coastal regulations, which apply everywhere: no navigating inside buoyed bathing zones at all, and where a beach is unbuoyed, boats stay 200 metres off (50 metres off rocky shore) or cross that strip at 3 knots maximum. Your skipper carries all of this in his head so the group does not have to.

Not inside the marine reserve — recreational fishing there is banned in every form, underwater fishing included, and the ban is the reason the water looks the way it does. Elsewhere, sea fishing in Spain has its own licensing rules that we do not handle as part of a standard stag charter. Honest advice: on a one-day stag, the swimming, the snorkelling and the cliff run fill the day better than a rod does. If fishing genuinely matters to your group, say so when you enquire and we will tell you plainly what can and cannot be arranged.

Not in the reserve — motorised water sports and jet-skis are prohibited there full stop. South of the port, where we actually run stag days, water-sports add-ons depend on the boat and the day, so ask when you book rather than assume. What is always included is the version that never needs a permit: a high deck, clear water and a group of grown men rediscovering the dive-bomb.

Standard charter boats on this coast carry up to 12 guests — a legal line, not our preference: above 12 passengers a vessel is classed as a passenger ship under a much heavier regime. The skipper and crew do not count towards your 12, so a full stag of twelve really means twelve mates aboard. Bigger group? We put you on a vessel certified for more where available, or run two boats in company — which turns into a race home every single time, and nobody has ever asked for a refund on that.

Yes. Bring the supply, use the coolers and ice on board, or send us a drinks order and the boat is stocked before you arrive. Two house rules: keep glass to a minimum on deck — bare feet, moving boat, do the maths — and the skipper's word on when the swimming stops is final. There is no drinks licence to worry about on a private charter; there is only the group's collective judgement, which we have seen in better and worse states.

No. Unlike a handful of Spanish resorts that have passed ordinances against hen and stag paraphernalia, Javea has no anti-stag rules of any kind — nor does Denia. Matching shirts, the groom in whatever the group has decided he deserves: all fine. The standard courtesy applies ashore, especially late at night in residential streets, and bear in mind Javea's evening scene is restaurants rather than clubs — plan the dinner, not the afterparty.

June to September for certainty. The AEMET climate normals for this coast give July an average of 25.5 °C with 4 mm of rain in the entire month and August 26.0 °C — you would struggle to design better odds. May and October still work and cost less, with a bit more weather in play; late September and October are this coast's season for short, violent autumn downpours, few days but dramatic ones. If the group's dates are fixed, book anyway: our weather policy has your back either way.

The skipper decides, and if he calls it off you reschedule or get your money back — your choice, no quibbling. The call is almost never about rain: the day-killer on this coast is the levante, an easterly whose real problem, in the words of the Valencian emergency service, is the sea state it raises rather than the wind itself. A stag in a heavy swell is twelve seasick men and no fun to skipper either. Summer levantes are uncommon; we plan around the forecast and tell you early.

No one. Every stag charter comes with a professional skipper — the group are guests, not crew, and nothing about the day requires experience, paperwork or the ability to tie a knot. The skipper handles the boat, the anchoring rules, the reserve boundaries and the weather; the group handles the music and the groom. Frankly, on a stag do, a boat that none of you is allowed to drive is a feature.
