Plenty of boats in Mallorca, at every price

Boat hire in Mallorca, or Majorca if you spell it the British way: your date, your group, your music.

We have plenty of boats for rent in Mallorca at every price: sailing boats from about €445 a summer day, RIBs from about €490, motorboats from about €520, catamarans from about €980 and motor yachts from about €2,860. Send your date and group size, and within 2 hours in business hours you get available boats and prices for that exact date, free and with no obligation.

Whichever you choose, the boat is yours alone: the whole deck, your group only, your playlist. A skipper comes with every offer, so nobody aboard needs a licence and everyone gets a proper day off. The typical boat is about 10 metres long and takes 9 people, with plenty of room for a long lunch at anchor.

The fun part is choosing your coast. Palma has the deepest choice and the whole bay. Port d'Andratx puts Dragonera about 4 nautical miles (NM) away. Alcúdia opens up the northern bays, and Cala d'Or starts you among the east-coast coves. Say where you're staying, and we'll find you the right boat for that coast.

Where to start in Mallorca, coast by coast

Pick the port nearest your hotel, and the coast does the rest.

Palma bay

Boat hire in Palma has the deepest choice on the island. Club de Mar alone has more than 500 berths, and the Real Club Náutico de Palma sits on the same waterfront. Board in the city, swim in the bay and see the cathedral from the water on the way home.

Port Adriano and Santa Ponça

South-west of the bay, with 487 berths at Port Adriano for boats of 6 to 80 m and charter companies in its own directory. Port d'Andratx is about 9 NM on, and just off the port the sun goes down over open sea from May to mid-September.

Port d'Andratx

The natural start for Dragonera, about 4 NM away, with the west coast opening up ahead of you. An open-sea sunset waits just outside the port in season, which makes this a favourite for the last hours of the day.

Port de Sóller

465 berths, 164 of them for visiting boats, and charter among the services Ports IB lists. Board here and the Tramuntana coast is right outside the harbour, with open sea on the sunset line from May to mid-September.

Alcúdia and Port de Pollença

Boat rental in Alcúdia centres on Alcudiamar, with 745 berths and boats up to 30 m. Port de Pollença adds 611 berths plus 375 at its yacht club. Both open onto the northern bays: made for a morning swim and a long lunch at anchor.

Cala d'Or

Boat hire in Cala d'Or starts you right among the east-coast coves, with no long run to eat into the day. More of your hours go on swimming, and the next cove is never far.

Portocolom

Further up the same coast, and a great pick if you're staying nearby. The coves are what you came for, and from here they're close at hand.

Cala Ratjada

A favourite with German visitors. Name it as your base in your request, and your offer tells you where your boat boards: Cala Ratjada itself or the nearest port with the right boat.

No licence? No problem

With a skipper on board, nobody in your group needs one. That's the whole answer.

Searching for boot mieten ohne Führerschein, or boat rental without a licence? A skipper is the answer, and every offer comes with one. No licence, no course and no paperwork for your group. You choose the mood of the day, and the skipper handles the boat, the anchoring and any permits.

Already hold a licence and fancy the helm? Say so in your request, with a copy of it, and your offer shows what you can take out yourself. A rented motorboat needs a licence at any size, which is why the skipper is the easy choice for most groups.

Want your own ticket for next time? The licencia de navegación is a short course from a nautical school or federation: 2 hours of theory and at least 4 of practice, plus a fitness check, from 18, or 16 with parental consent. It covers boats up to 6 m, by day, within 2 NM of a port, marina or shelter.

Good to know

Your skipper picks the stop

Clear sand or a buoy, and any permits along the way: all of that sits with your skipper. You pick the mood, and the anchorage takes care of itself.

Up to 12 guests per boat

Boats here carry up to 12 guests, with crew on top, so a bigger group simply books two boats and meets up on the water.

One price for the whole boat

You hire the entire boat, never a seat, so no strangers join you and the group can split the cost however it likes.

Best months for a boat in Mallorca

Summer is the headline act. August averages a high of 29.8 °C at Palma's port, and the days run long enough for a swim, a long lunch and a sunset over open sea on the west coast. From May to mid-September that sunset is on offer off Port Adriano, Port d'Andratx and Port de Sóller.

Outside the summer peak, prices drop hard: motorboats and catamarans both start from about €400 a day off-season, against about €520 and €980 in summer. If your dates can move, send two and see what each one costs.

Professional skippers from local charter companies, who handle the boat, the anchoring and the route.

Hire near where you're staying, then match the coast to the day you want. Palma has the widest choice and the bay. Alcúdia puts you at a 745-berth marina on the northern bays. Cala d'Or and Portocolom start you among the east-coast coves, and Port d'Andratx is about 4 NM from Dragonera.

Yes, with a skipper. Cabrera is about 10 NM from Colònia de Sant Jordi and about 28 NM from Palma, so ask for a fast boat if you're leaving from the city. Your skipper handles the park's free navigation permit and takes a day buoy when one is free.
