Licencia de Navegación for PWC

Spanish Jetski Licence — 4 Hours Practical, Same Day

Earn the official Spanish licence that lets you ride any jetski, anywhere in Spain — no engine power limit. 4 hours real on-water practical + 2 hours theory. No exam.

From No Experience to Licensed Jetski Rider in 6 Hours

The fastest route to a real PWC licence in Spain.

Want to rent the fastest jetskis in Spain, ride solo without a guide, or take longer rentals than the standard 4 hours? You need the Licencia de Navegación. The good news: it can be done in a single day, with most of that time on the water actually riding. The course was designed by the Spanish maritime authority specifically as a fast-track to legal solo jetski riding.

Our course runs 6 hours total: 2 hours of theory (rules of the road, basic navigation, what to do in emergencies) and 4 hours of supervised practical on a jetski in Valencia waters. There is no formal exam — your instructor assesses you continuously and signs off your competence at the end of the day.

Course Structure — Why It's Faster Than a Boat Licence

Same legal framework, but jetski-focused.

📚

2 h Theory

Compact theory module focused on PWC-relevant topics: speed limits, distance from shore, no-go zones, emergency procedures, basic radio.

🏄

4 h On-Water

Real jetski practical. Casting off, throttle control, turning at speed, falling-off recovery, group riding, returning to dock.

🎉

Same-Day Certificate

Temporary certificate issued the same day. Official Licencia de Navegación for PWC card mailed within 2-4 weeks.

2 Hours of Real Theory — Not Padding

The theory module is designed for adults who want practical knowledge, not a school exam. We cover the rules of the road at sea (give-way patterns, port and starboard, sound signals), the specific speed and distance limits for PWCs in Spain (3 knots in the marina, 5 knots within 200 m of shore, no limit beyond), what to do in an emergency (mayday on VHF channel 16, the man-overboard sequence), and basic weather and tide awareness.

We use a mix of slides, real maritime charts, and short videos. Materials are available in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Russian. You leave the classroom with a small handbook you can keep for future reference. The session usually runs 9:00-11:00 in our marina classroom.

4 Hours of Real Jetski Time — This Is the Differentiator

4 Hours of Real Jetski Time — This Is the Differentiator

The 4-hour practical is where this course earns its reputation. You spend the time actually riding a jetski under instructor supervision, not waiting on a dock. We start with low-speed manoeuvring inside the marina (the hardest part for beginners), move to acceleration and deceleration drills in open water, practise emergency stops, the fall-off-and-reboard procedure, and group-riding etiquette.

By the end of the four hours you will have completed all the skills required by the Spanish maritime authority for licence issuance: solo navigation, identifying nautical markers, returning to dock under load, and handling moderate sea state safely. The instructor signs off your performance — no formal exam.

What Our Licensed Riders Say

Real feedback from recent course graduates.

I needed the licence so I could rent the bigger jetskis. The 4 hours on the water felt like a real ride, not a school exam. Got my licence and rode the 110 kW machine on the same day.

P

Pavel S.

Instructor explained everything clearly even though my Spanish is basic. The fall-off-and-reboard drill was the most useful thing — I tested it for real later in the day.

G

Giulia M.

Rome, Italy

Did the boat licence and jetski licence on the same weekend. The jetski course is way more fun — 4 hours of real riding is the right way to learn.

Jetski Licence Valencia — FAQ

Same legal title (Licencia de Navegación), same regulator (Ministerio de Transportes), but our jetski-focused course uses a PWC for the 4-hour practical instead of a motorboat. The resulting licence allows you to drive both small boats up to 6 m and any jetski (no power limit). If you want to focus on motorboats, see our boat licence course.

The Licencia de Navegación was designed by the Spanish maritime authority as the fast-track entry-level title. The 6-hour total (2 h theory + 4 h practical) is the legal minimum for issuance, established under Real Decreto 259/2002. Longer courses like the PER (€550, 60+ hours) cover advanced navigation, night sailing, and tide tables — not needed for jetski riding within 2 NM of shore.

You need to be confident in the water and able to swim at least 50 m. Falling off a jetski is normal — the kill cord stops the engine, the jetski floats, you swim back to it. We test reboarding during the practical.

18 years old. (For the licence specifically — younger riders can ride a jetski with a licensed adult under rental supervision rules, but cannot themselves be issued the licence until 18.)

Yes. The temporary certificate issued the same day is legally valid. You can rent any of our jetskis — including the 110-kW machines — straight after the course. We often run a course in the morning and the student rents a jetski for sunset that evening.

The Licencia de Navegación is recognised by most EU coastal states for chartering jetskis and small boats. Each country has slightly different reciprocity rules, but in practice rental companies across the Mediterranean accept the Spanish licence. For longer-term residency abroad you may need to convert it.

Passport or EU national ID, one passport photo (we can take it on the day), a medical certificate ('certificado médico náutico', from any maritime clinic for ~€20). That's it.

Very rare — but if our instructor judges that you need more time, we offer an additional 2-hour practical for €60 instead of a refusal. We have a 99% pass rate.
