A day out on your own boat in Tenerife
One boat, one group, and a route your skipper fits to the day, in any month of the year.
A private boat trip in Tenerife means a day along the south-west coast, with the Los Gigantes cliffs dropping straight into dark, deep water and swim stops wherever your skipper finds shelter. We have boats at every price for it: sailing boats from about €345 a day and motorboats from about €560, with catamarans and motor yachts on request.
With one group on board, you set the pace: slow under the cliffs, longer at the swim stop, back when you're ready. It's your boat and your music, and the skipper is included, so nobody needs a licence. This is the island's leeward side, so the water is generally calm. And it works in winter too, with more than a third of searches arriving between November and March.
Tell us your date and group, and available boats and prices reach you within 2 hours in business hours, at no charge and with no obligation. Birthday, stag, hen or just friends: say what kind of day you want, and we'll find you a boat for it.
Where a day can go
Your skipper has the last word on wind and sea, and the first word on the best stops.
The Los Gigantes cliffs
The set piece of the west coast, and the reason most people want a boat here: the wall drops straight into dark, deep water, and it makes most sense from the sea. From the marina at their foot it's minutes. From Costa Adeje it's a longer run, and a full day does it justice.
Costa Adeje and Puerto Colón
The usual start on the south-west. A shorter day can stay local, with swim stops along the leeward coast, which suits children and half days perfectly. It's a big port, full of boats of every kind.
Masca
The famous ravine, seen as few people see it: from the water, with its mouth opening onto the sea. Ask your skipper how close the day allows, and combine it with the Los Gigantes cliffs next door.
Teno-Rasca
Most of your day is spent inside this protected strip, which runs from Buenavista del Norte to Arona. It's the reason you may meet dolphins or pilot whales, which live here all year, and up to 22 cetacean species have been recorded in these waters.
Los Cristianos and Las Galletas
Southern starts, good for a relaxed day on the local coast. If Los Gigantes is the goal, ask for a faster boat, and you'll have the cliffs and the swimming in one outing.
The north-west, beyond Teno
The wild end of the island, and a bonus for a calm day. Rounding the headland is your skipper's call on the morning itself, when wind and sea show their hand.
Group days and boat parties
Your own group on a private boat, rather than a seat on a party cruise.
A boat party in Tenerife means your own group and your own boat: stag, hen, birthday or just friends, with music and drinks agreed beforehand. No strangers, no shared deck and no fixed script, just your playlist and as many swim stops as the group wants.
Your skipper stays at the helm and has the final say on safety, which leaves everyone else free to enjoy the day. Tell us about any non-swimmers or small children in advance, and the day gets planned around them.
Group size is the first thing to settle, since it decides which boats fit: the typical boat here takes 8 people, larger ones up to 12, and a bigger group takes two. If dolphins or whales turn up, the music goes off for a few minutes and the skipper keeps a respectful distance, so you all get the moment.
Good to know
Dolphins and whales live here
They may well join your day, and everyone stays aboard to watch from a respectful distance. If seeing them is the whole point, the whale-watching page has trips on boats flying the Blue Boat flag.
Your skipper reads the seabed
A spot that looks perfect from the surface may be seagrass, so your skipper picks clear sand and the best shelter for the day. All you do is jump in.
No licence needed
Your skipper takes the wheel, so nobody in the group has to hold one. You spend the day on deck.
When to take a boat trip in Tenerife
Any month works. Tenerife Sur airport averages a high of 21.7 °C in January and 28.4 °C in August. Winter days on deck are mild, with a layer for the ride back. Imagine a swim stop and lunch at anchor while the rest of Europe scrapes ice off its windscreens.
South-west water is generally calmer under the trade winds, which are at their steadiest in summer. If the day turns lively, a good skipper swaps the cliffs for a sheltered stretch of coast, so the day still delivers. If you're a big group, keep a backup date in mind.

No, the request is free and there's no obligation. You pay only if you book a boat.
No. A skipper comes with every offer, so nobody in the group needs one.
From about €345 a day for a sailing boat and €560 for a motorboat, on public listings, for the whole boat. Catamarans and motor yachts come on request. The offer for your date shows the full price with the skipper on board.
Professional skippers from local charter companies, who know this coast from Costa Adeje to Los Gigantes.
Yes, easily from Marina Los Gigantes, since the cliffs are right there. From Costa Adeje or further south, a motorboat fits a half day better than a sailing boat, and a full day lets you do it all. Say what you want to see in your request.
Yes, as a private boat for your own group, with your music and drinks agreed beforehand. Give us the headcount first, since that decides which boats fit, and we'll find you the right one.
Yes, on request: a whole catamaran for your group, with a big deck for swimming and lunch. Ask early for popular dates.
You may. Dolphins and pilot whales are resident along this coast, though nobody can promise a sighting on a given day. If seeing them is the whole point, a whale-watching trip is the right choice.
Yes. Highs around 21 °C at the southern airport station and little rain make winter a real season here, and the leeward coast gives you the calmer water. Bring a layer for the ride home.
