The boat trips that make an Ibiza holiday

Pick the side of the island, then pick your boat. The west coast and the south coast are two great days.

A private boat trip in Ibiza takes you to Es Vedrà, Cala Comte and Formentera on a boat of your own, and we have plenty of boats at every price: sailboats from about €515 a summer day, motorboats from about €665, catamarans from about €1,000 and motor yachts from about €4,400. Your group, your playlist, your swim stops, with a skipper included.

From Sant Antoni, Cala Comte is about 5.5 nautical miles (NM) away and Es Vedrà about 11 NM. That leaves a half day with time to swim, even under sail. From Ibiza town, Es Vedrà is about 16 NM by the south coast, a glorious motorboat day past Ses Salines. Formentera, about 10 NM off, is the natural full day from the town side.

Send your date and group, and within 2 hours in business hours you have available boats and prices, free and with no obligation. The whole boat is yours, and you agree the route with the skipper, who fits it to the weather and the buoys on the day.

Where a day on the water can go

Distances are approximate and one way. Your skipper's track fits the day.

Es Vedrà from Sant Antoni

About 11 NM down the west coast to a 382-metre rock rising straight from the sea, the most famous view in Ibiza. You can circle it from your own deck and drop anchor over sand nearby for a swim. This is the short way there.

Es Vedrà from Ibiza town

About 16 NM by the south coast, so about 32 NM there and back. A fast boat makes it a thrilling day out, with the whole south of the island sliding past on the way.

Cala Comte

About 5.5 NM from Sant Antoni, the short trip on this coast, and far enough west that the sun goes down over open sea from May to September. Swim all afternoon, then stay for the show.

The south coast

Leaving Ibiza town you pass Ses Salines, then Cala Jondal and Porroig. Playa de Ses Salines has an official buoy zone, so your skipper can tie up right off the beach, inside the Natural Park.

Formentera as a day

About 10 NM from off Botafoch to La Savina through the Freus, or about 9 NM to the west side of Ses Illetes, over water that has to be seen to be believed. The Formentera page has the stops.

Sant Antoni at sunset

The real sunset cruise in Ibiza. Off the bay the sun drops into the sea from May to August, and in September sa Conillera joins the frame. Pure west-coast magic from a quiet deck of your own.

The Ponent islets

Sa Conillera, s'Espartar and their neighbours off the west coast share a reserve with Es Vedrà. They make a superb sight from the water, and the sea around them is yours to cruise.

Cala d'Hort by day

The classic postcard of Es Vedrà, seen from the water. Come in the daytime for the best of it, with the rock on one side and the coast on the other.

Sunset cruise in Ibiza: where it sets over the water

The west coast has the show. Here's how to be in the right seat.

A sunset cruise in Ibiza belongs to the west side. At Sant Antoni the sun goes down over the sea in season, with sa Conillera in the frame by September, and off Cala Comte the line stays clear from May to September. Nothing else on the island beats it, and from your own boat there's no crowd to look over.

Staying in Ibiza town? Make your evening about the water and the old town lights, or book the day on the west side and finish there. A longer run brings you the same sunset as anyone else, with the bonus of Es Vedrà on the way.

Keep this one quiet and easy: your own group, a drink in hand and the engine low, off the bay rather than along the strip. If you'd rather have music up and a party on board, the boat party page has the version that suits that day, leaving from the Ibiza town side.

Good to know

Circle Es Vedrà as often as you like

No permit is needed to sail round Es Vedrà and the Ponent islets. Your skipper picks clear sand for a swim stop, and the view from the water is the whole point.

Your skipper handles the buoys

Official buoy zones at Playa de Ses Salines, Caló de s'Oli and Bahía de s'Alga make for easy stops. If a field is full or the wind turns, your skipper has the next cove ready.

The whole boat, up to 12 guests

No seats and no strangers. Every trip here is the entire boat for your group, with crew on top of the 12.

Best months for a boat trip

May to October is boat-trip season, with an average high of 30.3 °C in August at Ibiza airport and long days made for a swim stop at every turn. June brings the longest evenings of the year on the west coast.

The sunset travels along the horizon through the season: at Sant Antoni it bears about 290° on 1 May, 302° at midsummer, 289° in mid-August and 274° in mid-September. Name your date, and your skipper will have the boat in the right spot for it.
